11 Days Northern Uganda Safari With The Hallmarks Travels:

Day one: Entebbe- Kampala 

A warm welcome at Entebbe Airport by the hallmarks travels staff and transfer to your hotel in Kampala.

Day two: Murchison Falls. 

Have an early Breakfast and depart from Kampala to Murchison Falls. Lunch will be en route, arrive in the national park in the afternoon and visit the top of the magnificent waterfalls, where the river Nile is being forced into a seven meter gap. It normally takes one hour to gather pictures and information while at the top of the falls. This journey to Murchison falls covers distance of about 320km which takes about 7 hours; you will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day three: Murchison Falls National Park 

After an early breakfast we will start the day with a game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, with chances of seeing giraffes, elephants, lions, hartebeest and different species of birds. In the afternoon the safari will be continued with a boat cruise on the river Nile for game viewing at close quarters. 

You will have dinner and overnight at a Red Chilli Camp or at 4 star Paraa lodge. 

Day four: Murchison Falls – Kitgum 

Early morning game drive and transfer to Kitgum for the night. We continue our journey and head to the north. It is a long but beautiful drive as we pass different types of landscapes and traditional villages with a lunch stop en route, you will arrive in the late afternoon in Kitgum.  The drive normally takes five hours depending on the road conditions.

Have dinner and overnight at Bohuma Guesthouse or Fulgy's Guesthouse.

Day five: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park.

In the morning you can visit the primary schools in the surroundings of Kitgum. Then continue towards the border with Sudan and enter Kidepo Valley National Park. Lunch will be at your accommodation in the middle of the national park, with beautiful views over the vast plains. After which you will go for a game drive in the afternoon for a first introduction with the wildlife. 

Have your dinner and overnight at UWA Bandas (Budget), Nga'moru Wilderness Camp and Apoka Lodges (Upmarket). 

Day six: Kidepo Valley National Park

The hallmarks travel guide will prepare you to have a full day in one of the most beautiful and remote national parks in Uganda! Early morning game drive or  safari walks along the Narus River Valley. Expect to view giraffes, ostriches, zebras, elephants and lions. The park is also a birders paradise as it boasts a bird list with over 475 species. Have lunch and relax before going on a visit to one of the local Karamojong communities. The Karamojong tribe is well known for their unique nomadic lifestyle and rich traditions of story-telling. 

Have your dinner and overnight at UWA Bandas (Budget) Nga'moru Wilderness Camp or Apoka Lodges (Upmarket). 

Day seven: Kidepo Valley National Park

Have another full day in Kidepo national Park. Start with an early morning game drive and an afternoon relaxation in preparation for a long drive the next day.

Day Eight: Transfer to Sipi

After breakfast we continue our journey and head to the south. It is a long beautiful drive as we pass different types of landscapes and traditional villages. This area is really off-the-beaten track and not visited by many tourists yet. You will witness what the many years of civil unrest have done to this region, but also how it is slowly but steadily developing again. It is completely safe to travel and with a lunch stop en route you will arrive in the late afternoon in Kitgum. 

Have dinner and overnight at night at Lacam Lodge or Sipi Falls Lodge

Day Nine: Sipi Falls

You will enjoy a hike to the lovely Sipi Falls. It is a beautiful walk to the bottom of the famous waterfall, and then continue with a steep climb to a series of caves. As you follow the challenging trail to the other waterfalls, you will pass maize fields, banana plantations and typical bandas. A delicious lunch will await you and some relaxing. In the afternoon you will visit a Coffee Project and find out why Sipi Falls is home to one of the finest coffees in the world. Talk to the farmers, see the plantations and learn more about the process behind coffee making. Then enjoy your freshly brewed cup of coffee as you relax and watch the sunset.

Have your dinner and overnight at Sipi River Lodge.

You can watch the waterfalls from a very close distance.  (Available on request)

Day ten: Transfer to Jinja

The best way to end your safari is experiencing the Nile. You can spend the day at your own leisure and read a book, relax at the natural pool or enjoy the serenity from your hotel or take a walk. 

If you love adventure you can decide to go rafting the Source of the Nile. After receiving instructions, you will start peddling and enjoy the beautiful scenery and thundering rapids at its fullest! 

Other optional activities include the Wild Nile Jet, bungee jumping, Squad bike safaris, horseback riding along the Nile, village walk or a visit to the true origin of the Nile. 

Then retire for a dinner and overnight at your hotel.
